about the author

Carol was born in Canada where her mother had followed her new soldier husband after the second world war. After a couple of years in the wilderness when she found she was pregnant she decided to return to Scotland and the soldier promised he would follow as soon as he could. He didn’t follow, and he never wrote once. But back in Forfar with her granny and grandad she felt loved and saw her grandad as a dad. He took her on walks around Forfar, let her help in his garden, and telling her stories. Lots of them.
